Question:
"I have a leather love seat and somebody got a white outside
paint on it. Would you know what would dissolve the stain without
damaging the leather?
...
The stain is now 3 days old and it is about
4x4 inches in the diameter. It's like a large splatter, the edges are
uneven. It is like if you take a brush and smear it on.
Thank you very much for your interest in my case."

Answer:
"Hello Alla, That is a pretty big paint spot.
"We have successfully removed paint spots from leather using Leather Mate,
but never of that size. Usually the problems we hear about are small
paint spots or flecks. In these situations, the procedure is:
- Appy a very generous coat of Leather Mate to the area and allow to sit
for 30 minutes.
- Rub a second application into the area rubbing hard (applying a lot of
pressure on the sponge).
- If the paint has not come off by this point, gently scrape the paint
off with a fingernail.
"Usually the paint comes right off and no scratches or markes are made.
Any color differences are then easily handled by giving the entire leather
a quick Leather Mate treatment.
"It is possible that this same procedure will work for the large spot you
mentioned. It may take repeating the above procedure a number of times,
and you may have to start at the edges of the paint spot and gradually
work your way in as more and more of the paint is successfully removed and
the spot gets smaller.
"While it is very possible that the above procedure will work it is not
something we can guarantee, but we do know from experience there are not a
lot of products and procedures out there that will remove the paint
without damage. If it is a favorite piece of furniture it is probably
worth a try. At worst you will have a jar of the world's best leather
cream available for taking care of all of your other leather goods (shoes,
jackets, purses, briefcases, boots, etc).
"Leather Mate will make the leather shiny so if you have a dull or matte
finish you will want to try Tenderly, although from experience Tenderly is
not as good at cleaning leather as Leather Mate.
"Hope this helps.
